KDB Foundation and Korea Entrepreneurship Foundation Host โ2020 KDB Startup Demo Dayโ

The KDB Foundation and the Korea Entrepreneurship Foundation announced on the 5th that they held the โ2020 KDB Startup Demo Dayโ to discover and nurture outstanding young entrepreneurs and support innovative startups.
At the demo day, which took place the previous day at the SKY 31 Convention Center in Lotte Tower, investment pitch presentations (IR) were delivered by seven teams that advanced to the final round out of 701 applicant teams. Based on evaluations by a panel of professional judges, a total of KRW 1.8 billion in business support funding was awarded, including KRW 100 million presented to Ji-hong Kang, CEO of Lomin, the recipient of the grand prize.
In accordance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, approximately 50 attendees, including university students and prospective entrepreneurs, were present at the venue. Meanwhile, more than 600 participants joined via a live online broadcast, responding in real time to promising startups proposing new ideas for the post-COVID era and generating strong enthusiasm.
In addition, the event featured a performance-sharing session for the โKDB Entrepreneurship Education Program,โ which involved 1,088 participants from 16 universities nationwide. Awards were presented to outstanding teams from Soongsil University, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), and Kwangwoon University, selected from among 33 teams.
The program established fieldwork-centered entrepreneurship courses within regular university curricula and provided intensive training, including customer interviews and market research, conducted by professional entrepreneurship educators. Outstanding teams will receive follow-up support, such as participation in a boot camp program and eligibility for startup programs in the following year.
Lee Dong-gull, Chairman of the Korea Development Bank, who attended the event, stated, โIn response to the new changes brought about by COVID-19, we will do our utmost, in collaboration with the Korea Development Bank, to promote innovative growth and revitalize the venture ecosystem.โ
Meanwhile, over the eight-year period from 2013 to this year, the Korea Development Bank has selected 156 teams through the KDB Startup Program, achieving outcomes including the establishment of 103 startups, the creation of approximately 1,490 jobs, and the attraction of around KRW 79 billion in investment through entrepreneurship education and follow-up support. Outstanding startups are also expanding their participation in structured growth programs, including KDB NextRound, the bankโs flagship domestic venture investment platform, and KDB NextONE, its acceleration program.
