Five Incubated Startups from the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation Selected for the Youth Startup Academy After Overcoming Record Competition

Startups incubated by the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (hereinafter, the “Gyeonggi Innovation Center”) have proven their promise by being admitted to the Youth Startup Academy after overcoming the highest competition rate on record.

On the 31st, the Gyeonggi Innovation Center announced that five of its incubated startups—DesignXplay (CEO Kyo-jin Hwang), CreatorPlate (CEO Heon-chan Lee), MedInTech (CEO Chi-won Lee), Rovanico (CEO Seon-jong Kim), and PI (CEO Ho-cheol Kwon)—which had previously participated in the Preliminary Startup Package and Local Creator Accelerating Program, were finally selected as 11th cohort companies of the Youth Startup Academy.

A record 5,484 applicants applied for the 11th cohort, resulting in a 5-to-1 competition ratio. The selected companies were chosen through a rigorous evaluation process that assessed founders’ capabilities, technological excellence, and development capacity, among other criteria.

MedInTech is a startup developing AI-based medical screening endoscopes and successfully raised angel and seed investments last year. Rovanico develops Korea’s first gel-type nutritional supplements for companion animals. PI provides a platform that enables a landlord–tenant co-growth collaboration model through its service addressing gentrification, an “revenue-linked coexisting store O2O curation system.”

DesignXplay offers a board game–style children’s English learning service based on image recognition technology and machine learning. CreatorPlate is a custom fashion goods manufacturer for individual creators, conducting Wadiz crowdfunding and creator collaboration businesses through items aimed at revitalizing Korea’s fashion manufacturing industry.

The Gyeonggi Innovation Center plans to intensively implement commercialization support programs to maximize the performance of its incubated companies, including direct investment, provision of open innovation opportunities, and linkage to follow-up projects.

An official from the Gyeonggi Innovation Center stated, “We are pleased to contribute to the rapid scale-up of our incubated companies,” adding, “We will continue to make every effort to ensure that more incubated startups can achieve sustainable growth through the Gyeonggi Innovation Center’s support programs.”
