ENet News — MedInTech announced that it participated in the International Hospital & Healthcare Technology Fair (K-HOSPITAL FAIR 2023, KHF 2023), held at COEX in Seoul from September 14 to 16.
KHF 2023 is a venue where the latest trends and innovative technologies in the medical industry can be seen in one place. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the exhibition highlighted future-oriented healthcare trends under the themes of healthcare information, medical robots, AI logistics, and wellness.
At the exhibition, MedInTech showcased its motorized gastrointestinal endoscopy system “MEDIUFES” and its gastric and colorectal abnormal-area detection solutions. The company also introduced one of the Top 10 Flagship Projects selected in May by the Korea Medical Device Development Fund (KMDF): “Development and Commercialization of a High-Performance Smart Flexible Electronic Endoscopy System for the Gastrointestinal Tract Based on Artificial Intelligence and Motorization Technologies.”
MEDIUFES features an intuitive and user-friendly motorized control system and weighs approximately 50% less than conventional mechanical endoscopes. In addition, it is equipped with FHD image quality and an LED light source to deliver clearer visuals, and it is designed to support a range of artificial intelligence algorithms aimed at improving physician convenience and reducing misdiagnosis rates.
MedInTech’s gastric and colorectal abnormal-area detection solution enables real-time detection and alerts during endoscopic diagnosis, achieving sensitivity and specificity levels of over 90%. The solution can be used not only with MedInTech’s own endoscopy system but is also compatible with systems from other manufacturers.
A MedInTech representative stated, “The first-generation MEDIUFES product introduced at this exhibition has already obtained Class II medical device approval, and we plan to complete Class II approval for the second-generation product within this year. In addition, we have also obtained Class II medical device approvals for our abnormal-area detection solutions for both the stomach and colon.”
The representative added, “MedInTech will continue to grow based on diverse technologies to provide high-quality medical services, and we will remain committed to medical device research and development to transform treatment paradigms.”
Meanwhile, MedInTech was founded to commercialize research outcomes originating from the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI). In 2021, the company was selected as a lead organization for the Pan-Ministry Medical Device Research and Development Program, and in 2022 it successfully raised KRW 8 billion (approximately USD 80 million) in a Series A investment round.
