The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Business Agency (SBA, CEO: Hyun-woo Kim) dispatched a market development delegation to Jakarta, Indonesia, from November 24 to 28, consisting of 19 Hi-Seoul Companies, to support overseas market expansion and commercialization of promising local SMEs.
The delegation achieved a total of 273 business consultations, pursued export contracts worth USD 39 million (approximately KRW 58.5 billion), signed 21 MOUs, and concluded on-site contracts totaling USD 2.95 million (approximately KRW 4.42 billion). These results are expected to further accelerate the entry of Hi-Seoul Companies into Indonesia and the broader Southeast Asian market.
In response to uncertainties in the global trade environment, SBA explained that it operated the Indonesia market development delegation to diversify export markets by positioning Indonesia as a strategic hub and to expand stable overseas sales channels for Seoul-based SMEs.
Indonesia, the world’s fourth-most populous country, is emerging as a core axis of the ASEAN economy, supported by abundant natural resources and its halal hub strategy. As a result, it represents a significant market for Hi-Seoul Companies’ trade activities, leading SBA to dispatch a market delegation to Indonesia again this year following last year’s initiative.
Furthermore, Indonesia’s industrial structure is rapidly advancing, driven by the expansion of the middle class, digital transformation, rising demand for medical and healthcare services, and growth in the consumer goods market. Hi-Seoul Companies’ technology-driven products, precision manufacturing capabilities, and strong brand competitiveness are viewed as key strengths that can create synergies with local industries. In particular, the ICT and medical device sectors show high potential for collaboration in line with Indonesian government policies to strengthen digitalization and healthcare infrastructure. The beauty and food sectors are also experiencing rapid market expansion, supported by strong trust in K-lifestyle products, and are expected to see increased investment going forward.

A total of 19 Hi-Seoul Companies participated in the program, engaging in approximately 273 consultations with 60 local companies across fast-growing sectors in Indonesia, including food, ICT, medical devices, and beauty. Beyond product introductions, both sides held in-depth discussions on local distribution structures, investment conditions, and market expansion strategies.
Participating Hi-Seoul Companies included: Wannabe Cosmetic (beauty), Hyunjin C&T (functional cosmetics), Intake (zero-sugar beverages and snacks), Next Pangea (beauty), GD Corporation (eco-friendly bedding), Meditherapy (functional cosmetics), Hurom (red ginseng and inner beauty), Zeus (tangerine chip snacks), Korea Bowon Bio (magnetic patches), Label Corporation (functional cosmetics), Big Picture Corporation (hair stylers, cupping devices), C-Marketplace (e-procurement platform), G-Mission (AI document automation solutions), MarkAny (AI security), Sysmate (LED and operation software), MNG ENT (photo booths and smart education equipment), Inex Corporation (upper and lower GI endoscopy), MedInTech (medical endoscopy), and Buhung Medical (home-use therapeutic medical devices).
During the consultation sessions, a total of 21 MOUs were signed, and several companies immediately moved forward with concrete follow-up actions such as sample testing, price negotiations, and partner discovery, demonstrating strong practical outcomes. This is seen as reflecting the high level of interest in Hi-Seoul Companies within the Indonesian market.
In addition, the delegation visited APINDO during the program to hold in-depth discussions on cooperation opportunities between companies from both countries. APINDO positively evaluated the technological capabilities, quality management standards, and brand reliability of Hi-Seoul Companies, expressing interest in developing joint programs and building a sustainable industrial network. Through these discussions, participating companies deepened their understanding of the Indonesian market and agreed to strengthen ongoing communication channels.
Lee Jae-hoon, Head of the Marketing Division at the Seoul Business Agency, stated, “By visiting Jakarta again this year following last year, we were able to reconfirm the strong interest of local buyers in the excellent products and technological capabilities of promising Seoul-based companies. We will continue to provide follow-up support to ensure tangible outcomes by establishing permanent cooperation channels with local partner organizations.”
Based on these achievements, the Seoul Business Agency plans to continue expanding global footholds and promoting sustained networking initiatives to support the international growth of Seoul-based SMEs.
