The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Business Agency (SBA, CEO: Kim Hyun-woo) held the “2025 Seoul-Type R&D Performance Sharing Conference” on Wednesday, the 17th, at the SETEC Convention Hall.
The conference was organized to reflect on the innovative progress of Seoul-Type R&D over the past year and to disseminate the achievements of companies with outstanding technologies. A total of 346 attendees, including member companies of Seoul Tech Meetup, the Seoul-Type R&D corporate council, along with key guests and representatives from related organizations, participated in the event.
In particular, the event was meaningful as it showcased the tangible outcomes of the expanded support measures implemented under the 2025 Seoul-Type R&D program. Moving beyond simple financial support, SBA has built a performance-driven support system. This year, following the participation of KCL, KTR, and TTA, FITI Testing & Research Institute also joined, completing a full-stack R&D support system that provides one-stop assistance from planning to global certification and market entry. At the event, notable case studies of companies that grew within this robust ecosystem were shared.
From 2017 to the present, approximately KRW 287.2 billion in public funding has been invested in Seoul-Type R&D, supporting a total of 2,138 projects. Through various initiatives—such as programs for diagnosing the effectiveness of research indicators, innovative product registration and support, and data quality certification in collaboration with K-DATA—Seoul-Type R&D has consistently promoted the practical growth of supported projects.
As a result, the program has also produced impressive IPO outcomes, often regarded as the ultimate goal for startups. Thirty-five companies that received Seoul-Type R&D support have successfully listed on KOSDAQ and other markets. Representative success stories include Angel Robotics, a wearable robot company, and ENCell, a cell therapy specialist, both of which successfully entered KOSDAQ leveraging the technical and commercialization support provided by Seoul-Type R&D.
Driven by these achievements, competition for the 2025 Seoul-Type R&D programs was fiercer than ever. Across 11 programs, innovative companies recorded an average competition ratio of 7.7 to 1. In particular, the Seoul Innovation Challenge posted a ratio of 20.8 to 1, while the Bio & Medical sector reached 10.4 to 1, underscoring the high standing of Seoul’s R&D support initiatives.

The event featured a diverse lineup of programs, including:
▲ 2025 Seoul-Type R&D and Seoul Tech Meetup performance reports
▲ Outstanding company case presentations and awards
▲ Technology demonstrations for socially vulnerable groups
▲ One-on-one business consultation sessions
During the performance reporting session, activities from the four Seoul Tech Meetup divisions—AI, regulatory reform, vulnerable-group technologies, and bio—were introduced. In addition, the outcomes of the newly introduced Research Indicator Diagnosis Program, which strengthens pre-verification rather than relying solely on post-evaluation, were presented.
The highlight of the event was the Seoul-Type R&D Outstanding Company Awards Ceremony. Eight companies demonstrating excellence in technological capability, business viability, and global competitiveness received commendations from the Mayor of Seoul in recognition of their achievements. The award recipients were:
MedInTech Co., Ltd., Helper Robotics, Norispace Co., Ltd., Furence Co., Ltd., Impressivo Korea Co., Ltd., Routefinders, New Cure M, and Petnow.
The Technology Demonstration for the Socially Vulnerable, highlighting corporate social responsibility (CSR), also drew strong attention. Five companies showcased technologies designed for caregiving and socially disadvantaged groups through live demonstrations. Beyond simple exhibitions, on-site matching consultations with potential demand partners took place, vividly illustrating how R&D technologies transition from laboratories into everyday life.
In addition, a separate seminar room hosted one-on-one business consultation sessions, which were met with strong demand. Experts from tech partners such as KB, KT, and SK Telecom, accredited testing and certification bodies, the Korea Public Procurement Research Institute, and SBA’s regulatory support team were on site, providing over 55 in-depth consultations on essential business areas including technology matching, testing and certification, and regulatory sandbox programs.
Kim Hyun-woo, CEO of the Seoul Business Agency, commented,
“Despite the overall trend of budget reductions at other institutions, this year marked a period in which Seoul-Type R&D expanded its budget and completed the testing and certification ecosystem—sowing the seeds and cultivating the soil.”
He added,
“Building on the achievements shared today, we will continue to provide full support in 2026 so that our companies can achieve tangible results in the global market.”
